CARDS??…not me

•January 4, 2010 • 3 Comments

For you guys that know me, you know I hate to make cards so usually when I see a card kit, I don’t give it a second chance but I fell in love with the papers from the  Life Preservers  December card kit and knew that I had to have it…..not to make cards but to make layouts.  So here are three of them I created using the kit.

There’s No Days Like Snow Days

•December 28, 2009 • 4 Comments

I  love when there is snow on the ground but it is not so cold that you can’t go out and play which is what we did on Christmas Eve.  My son, Phoenix, my daughther, Brittany, and I had a snowball fight.  I don’t think it was an even fight….they kinda ganged up on me.  But look out, there is always the next snow (maybe)!!!!!   And though it may look it, I am not using my son as a shield in the first picture….LOL.

The End

•December 12, 2009 • 5 Comments

It is with sadness and relief that today is the last day of the 12 Tags of Christmas with Tim Holtz.  After being a lurker of his tags for two years, I decided that I had stockpiled enough Ranger and Tim Holtz supplies to be able to do them this year.  I have had a blast doing them and learned many fun techniques and got to play with all those “must have” products that you bring home just to look at for half a year.  At the beginning, you think, there is no way that I am going to be able to complete all of them but at the end, you are left asking “is that it….comeon’ Tim…how about 25 tags of Christmas” but so it goes, all good things must come to an end.

Here are my last two tags, #11 and #12…….. but wait, you say, what about #10….I have not forgotten, just waiting for the right material to work with and then I will also post that one.

Thanks Tim for all the inspiration, tips and tricks, thanks Mario for shipping out all those prizes — even though I didn’t get one, LOL– and a big thank you to all my LPS sisters who have encouraged me throughout the whole 12 days while I loaded the gallery with my tags!!!!

Tag #9

•December 9, 2009 • 3 Comments

It was really hard to beat the lamppost tag but I do believe that this one is my new favorite….LOL.   Instead of the vintage photos that Tim used for his fab tag, I used ones of my grandson, Caleb (age one) during a Noni photo shoot that he had to endure.

I was really glad that Tim used the film strip ribbon because my friend, Rose, who realizes my Tim addiction, picked a container up for me a couple of months ago…….thanks Rose!!!!!!

Whoopsee….Tags 6,7 and 8

•December 9, 2009 • 1 Comment

Had a crazy weekend and Monday……I had a craft show on Saturday, taught a class on Sunday and went to the dentist on Monday so I got a little (okay alot) behind on my tags but I am happy to report that I am caught up on my tags and am waiting for the next one to appear on Tim’s blog in about 2 hours.

Here are Tag #6, #7 and #8 with several improvisions of course.   I used flowersoft for the snow on the trees and for the leaves and flower on the lamppost.  I also had to cut out the sleigh and lamppost from grungeboard on the cricut….so cool to know I can make my own grungeboard elements.   I am not a big fan of my #6 and #7 tag but I am getting them done with the supplies I have and a bonus,  I really liked the way #8 turned out.

Tag #5

•December 7, 2009 • 1 Comment

If you are with me still, you know that this is Tag #5—–and you have to also know that I totally dropped the ball with this one.  It started to go all wrong from the beginning when I found that I did not have any of the charm fragments….just the squares and rectangles.  So I decided that I would just go ahead and create something with the squares……..not one of my better decisions…LOL.  I did like the purple and gold color combo though.    Well, at least I have 7 more tags to redeem myself after this one.

Tag #4

•December 4, 2009 • 3 Comments

I did get a chance to complete Tag #4, from the 12 Tags of Christmas, in the wee early morning hours.    But somehow it took on a life of it’s own and turned into something other than Christmas….but with some of the same elements that Tim has on his (you didn’t know we were on a first name basis, huh?).   And even though Tim’s tag has a beautiful array of color on his, I used shades of blue for mine.

12 Tags of Christmas

•December 4, 2009 • 3 Comments

I have been wanting to create the 12 Tags of Christmas (for you guys that don’t know and I can’t even imagine—-Tim Holtz has created a tag every day for the first 12 days in December for the last two years, making this the third year).   Through these tags, he does many techniques and puts forth some inky madness.  And up until this year, (even though I have watched and ohhhed and ahhhhed over the first two years) I have never done them because  I felt that I lacked talent (who does not feel intimidated by him..LOL).    But this year, I was determined to make them and even post them no matter how they turned out.  So far, I have been able to keep up and luckily, have had most of the supplies that I needed to complete them—surprise right since I have been gathering (like a squirrel with nuts) Tim Holtz stuff lately.

Below is the first three days of tags……..of course, they will be different from his but hopefully not so much that you cannot recognize them as being my attempt at them….LOL.    And also, Rhonda,  a fellow design team member over at Life Preservers Scrapbook Club,  is also doing them………if you get a chance, go check out her blog to see her beautiful interpretations of the tags.

Below is the first tag…..I did not have a snowman stamp at the time so I used snowflakes (trust me, I got my hands on a snowman stamp the next day, thanks to a friend of mine….thanks Pat!!)  And although I have many many colors of his crackle paint, I did not have the Rock Candy kind which dries clear.  He used it on his tag and it looks soooo good so I must get some!!!!!

Tag 2 includes a beautiful metal flower that Tim fashioned into a rose…..I sadly did not have any of his metal flowers so I had to create my own from a metal sheet of copper….needless to say, my fingers are all cut up from twisting, cutting and bending the copper but I really liked how the flower turned out.  Tim’s tag is a beautiful red and green but somehow my turned out a peach and green color…..I think of peach as a Christmas color, don’t you….LOL.

Tim gave us twins for Tag #3…..he demoed this really cool technique making plaid paper with alcohol inks and I just loved it (after trying out many color combos)!!!!  He made two tags so of course, I had to do the same.  I am not sure I like how they turned out (other than the plaid part) but I did them so shall I post them.

That is it until tomorrow………I am so excited to see what is next.

Just love these Prima vines and sprays…..got my hands on bunches because not only are there beautiful kits and wonderful members at LIFE PRESERVERS  but the owner also does group buys of different products — in other words, there is quite the enabling going on over there.   I am ashamed and also delighted to say that what is pictured above is maybe about half of my order.   Now off to Prima playground….take care until next time!!!!
